Simon Yaxley, DPhil, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder
Since graduating in biological sciences and gaining a doctorate in neurophysiology from Oxford University in 1985, Dr. Yaxley has spent the last 20 years in a variety of operational, commercial and general management positions within the clinical drug development arena. Dr. Yaxley started his clinical research career with Glaxo in Europe in all phases of clinical development and across a number of different therapeutic areas, before joining Quintiles in 1990. In 1991, he moved to Innovex, first as a project manager for a 10,000-patient cardiovascular study and then as Director of Business Development. During this time, Dr. Yaxley was involved in the acquisition and subsequent integration of The Clinical Research Foundation. Dr. Yaxley was appointed Senior Director of Business Development at ClinTrials Research in 1996, where he built and led an international sales and marketing team and a successful drug development consultancy. Dr. Yaxley then moved to IBAH (now Omnicare Clinical Research) in 1998 as managing director for the United Kingdom operation before joining Phoenix International in 1999 to direct the merger of clinical research operations across Europe with MDS to create the European clinical research capability of MDS Pharma Services. Dr. Yaxley co-founded the company in 2002 and is responsible for the overall management and strategy of the group.
