Dr. Bonasso is from the Detroit area. He attended the University of Michigan where he studied biology and psychology. He received his DDS degree from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1988. Dr. Bonasso performed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Louisiana State University and his residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. After completing his training in 1993, Dr. Bonasso served in the United States Army Dental Corps. He served as assistant director of residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. In 1998 he entered private practice in Austin, Texas where he maintains a comprehensive practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He maintains a full scope practice including maxillofacial trauma, pathology, dentoalveolar surgery, comprehensive implant surgery and orthognathic (reconstructive jaw) surgery.
Dr. Bonasso is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is active in clinical research that evaluates investigational pain medication following the removal of wisdom teeth. He has been involved in more than 50 clinical studies.
